Earl Scruggs passed away the 28th of March, 2012.
He left his preeminent and indelible mark on Americana when, in the 1940s, he invented the "Scruggs roll" thumb, index and middle finger picking style that revolutionized 5 string banjo and arguably created bluegrass.
I spent this morning remembering Scruggs on YouTube. Not a bad way to start the day whatsoever.
